PlugPlay PC started because there was a gap in the market: a custom PC builder who actually communicated, charged fair prices, and cared about the result.
How it started
It started the way most good businesses do — someone needed something done properly and couldn't find anyone to do it.
The big PC builders — PCSpecialist, NZXT, CyberPowerPC — do a decent job at scale. But scale is the problem. You're one order number out of thousands. When things go wrong, you're dealing with a support ticket queue. When you have a question about your parts, there's no one to actually talk to.
We built a PC for a mate who'd been quoted £1,100 by a national builder for a gaming setup that performed worse than what we spec'd for £750. He told his friends. They told theirs. Within a year, we'd built over 20 machines through word of mouth alone.
That's when it became clear this was worth doing properly. So we registered the business, built a proper process, and committed to doing what the big players can't: treating every customer like the only customer.
